Table 2: vowels at first

The vowels at the start of words are always written with Alef (the first letter of alphabet). The first row

of the table shows this.

This table contains the 32 letters of the Persian alphabet (top to bottom) placed after each vowel (right to left). Read the table thoroughly. Move on to the next lesson after you can read this table fluently even without the help of pronunciation indications.

1. [a] only indicates the sound of [a] as in hand.

2. [e] only indicates the sound of [e] in pen.

3. [o] only indicates the sound of [o] as in cold.

4. [a] only indicates the sound of [a] as in star.

5. [oo] only indicates the sound of [oo] as in room.

6. [i] only indicates the sound of [i] as in ink.
